The State Historical Museum of the Kyrgyz Republic is one of the largest museums in Central Asia. It was founded in 1925 and contains exhibits that tell about the history of nomadic peoples from the Stone Age to the present day. Many its collections are included in the World Cultural Heritage list. There are expositions that date back to the Migration Period, the culture and everyday life of the nomads, emergence of cities.
In 2021, the Historical Museum was opened after a five-year reconstruction. More than $30 million was spent on it. There are many amazing things in the Historical Museum, for example, wooden statues of horses worth €17,000.
