Aigul-Tash mountain, located 20 kilometers southeast of the city of Batken, is famous for the endemic Aigul flower growing only in this place, which cannot be seen anywhere else in the world. Translated from Kyrgyz it iscalled "moon flower": it grows only on shady slopes, as if hiding from the sun.
Aigul stands out for its bright orange petals and large size, which isnot typical for mountain plants. It is not easy to see it - it blooms only twoweeks once a year. The Aigul reaches a height of 80-90 centimeters.
The flower has become a symbol of Batken region. Holidays are held in its honor, and the plant itself is included in the Red Book of Endangered Species.
