Kol-Kogur Lake - the most beautiful lake of the northern Tien Shan is located in Kemin district of Chui region among the picturesque mountains of Kungei Ala-Too. The only way to get to the lake is on foot or on horseback.
The lake is located at an altitude of 2,000 meters above the sea level. There are coniferous forests, where wild animals live: red deer, Turkestan lynx, golden eagle and others.
The western shore of the lake is covered with spruce forest; its eastern shore is grassy.
The lake is elongated from north to south and is impounded from the north by a dam of natural origin, which was formed as a result of a large rock fall. This happened several millennia ago. The natural dam is completely covered with grass and groups of fir trees.
Once a children's tent camp was set up on the shore of Kol-Kogur in the summer, and dozens of children came here to have a rest during the season. But now there are very few tourists in Kol-Kogur, because it is not easy to get here. So, you can enjoy silence and unity with nature.
